MBALE PRISON INMATES GRADUATE
 

There was joy and happiness in the Mbale prisons as more than 50 female inmates completed their short study courses in business  while in prison,  and were awarded their certificates.

The female inmates who are have less than 2 years to leave the prisons where trained  in business skills by the help of the kingdom of the Netherlands  , under the penal reform international  an ngo that fights for the female inmates to get justice in the courts of law  in time .

Some of the inmates who finished their studies thanked God for having helped them get knowledge in prison and  yet they thought prison was the last place they would  wish to be, Nandala  Nelly  who finished her studies  and was given 3m shillings as start up capital said she now knows how to budget  and plan for her business  and that will her when she is out of prison .

Meanwhile the  officer in charge of the female prisons madam Agnes  said that people should think that prison is the worst place to be , but rather  know that prisons is place changing some one’s behaviour from bad to good, and also where new  talents are known from.

The repetitive of the human rights  from the Netherland embassy  in Uganda , miss  Nona de   jonge  called upon the inmates that have finished their studies  not listen to bad voices back in the community  that might  confess them and not  follow their dreams .

DR. Emoit  John  who is a psychiatric  in mulago  hospital  said that most women are in prison  because of some mental illness , and some is because of  lack kids at home , this he says they get pressure from mothers in law who are not always happy  with them  for not giving birth.

He also said people should always learn to talk about their problems and not be in isolation as this leds to depression which is around 6.4% in eastern Uganda.

DR. Emoit john  advises government to at list get psychiatric nurse in every prison to avoid  jailing mentally ill persons for long . 

Milton  Tiyo the prison officer  who represented the commissioner of prisons  thanked the kingdom of Netherland and penal international for giving such great skills to the inmates , which he said if the inmates take them and apply them in the community than it will be hard for them to commit any other crime that may led them back in prison .

They were later awarded their certificates and those who finished their sentences were given their cash start up capital to go home back with and start business.
