More than 200 youths have been trained in vocational training and given start-ups as part of the efforts to alleviate unemployment in the oil pipeline-affected areas.

The accident happened on the Masaka-Mbarara road when a Tanzania T 942 EAG truck heading from Mbarara collided with a Fusobwenyikubwenyi UAX 188 The driver of the Fuso died shortly after being taken to Masaka Hospital while seven others sustained serious injuries.

STATEMENT ON NAKAIMA ANCESTRAL TREE INCIDENT IN MUBENDE

The territorial police in Mubende have opened up a death inquiry file to investigate circumstances surrounding an alleged accident that occurred on 04/12/2024 at about 0500hrs in Boma cell Nakayima ward, West Division, Mubende municipality in Mubende district.
Three people have been confirmed dead while seven including two minors sustained fractures and serious injuries.
The deceased persons have been identified as
1. Nakabuye Annet Female of about 45Yrs  Business lady a resident of Kasana cell,Mukangwe Ward, Nyendo  town council Masaka city.
2. Twebaze  Evelyn Female of 39yrs Resident  of Mikiisa village, Bukambo parish Bukambo sub county Bukomansimbi district and
a yet-to-be-identified person.
The victims have been identified as
1. Namatovu Rose female aged 48 years business lady and a resident of Kifampa town council Gomba district.
2. Nalubiri Victoria Female aged  13 years,  P.7 pupil  at Bageza primary school a  resident of Kangulumira cell,Kirunji ward, South division, Mubende municipality Mubende district.
3. Nanono Teddy female aged  37 yrs business lady,a resident of Kirunji ward, South division, Mubende municipality Mubende district.
4. Nabukera Mariah female aged  46 years a resident of Mukangwe, Nyendo town council in Masaka city.
5. Namatovu Josephine female aged 35 years a resident of Kijulu village, Mawogola parish, Mitate sub-county in Sembabule district.
6. Natukunda Caroline female aged 35 years, business lady resident of Kawempe Kakungulu zone Kawempe division in Kampala district.
7. Kimbugwe Ronald Reagan male juvenile of 13 years, P.4  pupil at Kakungulu primary school a resident of Kijulu village, Mawogola parish, Mitate sub-county in Sembabule district.

preliminary findings indicate that on  04/12/2024  at about 0500hrs,3 people were hit dead while 7 were left injured by a dry branch of Nakayima ancestral and cultural tree while they were worshipping under it.
we were informed about the incident at 0700hrs  by  the chairperson lc1 Boma cell,  a report of accident was registered and immediately our task team led by dpc Mubende  booked out to  the scene.
Victims have been evacuated to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for treatment while the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
it has been established that the deceased and victims had traveled from different parts of the country for the annual celebration, traditional thanksgiving, and worship which were scheduled for tomorrow 05/12/2024 at the Nakayima ancestral tree.
