KAMULI, UGANDA– The Busoga North Region Police have launched a major investigation into the alleged aggravated defilement and trafficking of a three-year-old girl in Kamuli District, an incident that has sent shockwaves through the local community.
According to a police press release dated October 14th, the horrific discovery was made on the afternoon of October 13th, 2025, in Bulunga Village, Butansi Sub-county.
Preliminary reports indicate that a concerned individual heard sounds of distress coming from a neighbour's house at around 2:00 pm. Upon investigating the source of the cries, the person allegedly found a 21-year-old male peasant in what police have described as "suspicious circumstances" with the young child.
The matter was swiftly escalated from local authorities to the Kamuli Police Station, triggering an immediate and comprehensive response from law enforcement.
"The Police strongly condemn such acts of sexual violence against children," the statement read, assuring the public of a thorough investigation.
To build a strong case, police investigators have taken several critical steps. They have opened a formal case file, recorded statements from key witnesses, and conducted a medical examination of the young victim.
In a move underscoring the seriousness of the case, forensic evidence has been collected, including vaginal swabs and the suspect's clothing, for analysis at the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory (DGAL).
The identified suspect is currently in police custody. Police also confirmed plans for a further scene-of-crime visit to gather additional evidence. Upon completion of the inquiries, the suspect will be formally charged in court.
The police have reiterated their call to the public, urging parents and guardians to remain extremely vigilant and to immediately report any suspected child abuse or suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station or local authority.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of children and the prevalence of sexual and gender-based violence in the region. The community of Bulunga Village now waits for justice as the police continue their investigation.
