As the Kingdom of Buganda prepares to mark the 33rd Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II on July 31, the Presiding Bishop of all Mt. Lebanon Churches in Uganda, Bishop Dr. Samuel Lwandasa, has commended the Kabaka for his outstanding contribution to the fight against Sickle cells / HIV/AIDS and his commitment to promoting unity across the kingdom.
The main coronation celebrations will be held at Watoto Church in Bweyogerere.
While leading a special prayer service for the Kabaka at Mt. Lebanon Christian Centre Cathedral in Ggunga Village, Kyaggwe County, Bishop Lwandasa praised the monarch for championing initiatives that have improved access to modern medical treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS.
He also applauded the Kabaka's annual charity runs, describing them as a significant platform for mobilizing resources to support HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment throughout Buganda and beyond.
"The Kabaka has demonstrated remarkable leadership by using his influence to improve the health and well-being of his people," Bishop Lwandasa said.
The bishop further commended the Kabaka for fostering peace and inclusivity by welcoming people of all nationalities to live and work in Buganda without discrimination. He noted that this approach has strengthened unity, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation between Buganda and other communities.
Bishop Lwandasa also paid tribute to the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, praising his dedication to promoting teamwork, development, and unity within the kingdom.
During the same prayer service, Ann Kigudde Namayanja, the Youth Representative in the Buganda Lukiiko, called on the public to continue praying for the Kabaka and to actively support the development initiatives he has introduced.
She also encouraged Buganda subjects and well-wishers to attend the 33rd Coronation Anniversary celebrations in Bweyogerere and participate in commemorating the Kabaka's reign.
The annual coronation anniversary celebrates Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II's ascension to the throne and serves as an opportunity to reflect on his leadership and the kingdom's progress in areas including health, education, culture, and community development.
