A severe dry spell has hit Nyakatonzi Sub County in Kasese district, leaving cattle keepers struggling to sustain their livelihoods. The prolonged drought, characterized by high temperatures and minimal rainfall, has resulted in significant livestock deaths and economic losses.
As Uganda joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8, women across the country used the occasion to highlight challenges they face in accessing funds from government empowerment programs, particularly the GROW initiative. Residents of Kawami Village in Kalamba, Butambala District, have expressed mixed feelings about the ongoing stone quarry project by Kawami Stone Quarry Limited. While the project is expected to boost infrastructure development in the region, locals are concerned about its impact on their community and have called for improved road networks as a priority.
