Slow Food Uganda has launched an ambitious two-year project titled “From Farms to Markets: Scaling Agro ecology in East and Southern Africa.” Supported by the Agro ecology Fund (AEF), the project aims to strengthen the participation of agro ecological farmers in local markets while building a global collective of farms producing good, clean, and fair food.

Construction of the much-anticipated Ntenjeru–Bule Road has stalled barely a month after its official launch, following a cultural dispute over a sacred tree in Mpata Village, Mukono District.

On the 2nd of last month, the Minister for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, flagged off the works for the 18-month project, which forms part of the 18.5-kilometre Ntenjeru–Bule stretch under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Urban Development Program, funded by the World Bank.

A group of women in Wamala, Nansana, Wakiso District, have publicly protested, accusing the President's representative, the Gombolola (GA) President, of neglecting them and failing to improve their living standards.
 
The women had pinned their hopes on a government initiative, the Youth Wealth Creation program, which in this area falls under the leadership of a man named Faizo Ndase. Mr Ndase reportedly received his appointment from Jane Barekye, the Woman Member of Parliament for Wakiso, who also serves as the Commissioner of the National Treasury. The women credit Ms Barekye for developing her home area and supporting children.

TotalEnergies has commissioned a solar-powered irrigation system in Uganda to bolster food security in Buliisa.

 

BULIISA, UGANDA – In a significant step towards sustainable agricultural development, TotalEnergies EP Uganda has commissioned a new solar-powered irrigation system at Ndandamire Primary School, an initiative designed to enhance food security and boost household incomes for project-affected communities in the district.

Uganda Bureau of Statistics expresses the need to leverage innovations in data and statistics to promote peace and security in Uganda and other African countries.

 

According to Flavia Oumar, Principal IT office in charge of digital in UBOS, such an initiative is to help the Statistics Students on how to collect and handle data while doing work and ensure that it will be implemented in the whole country.
