Dwarf Community Seeks Increased Disability Fund Funding Despite Government SACCO Allocations
The dwarf community requests increased funding for the disability fund and highlights ongoing marginalization despite government allocations to their SACCO.
The dwarf community has called upon government to increasing the fund allocated t the disability fund each financial year to address part of their challenges. The little people still urge that despite government commitment where it has allocated various funds to their SACCO but they  continue to be marginalized.
Addressing a press conference  at  the media center in Kampala,the association program officer Joel Kwanguzi cited the various challenges where they ara have been denied access to transport on all walk ways around Kampala after KCCA installing barricades as they are trying to block bodabodas.
These have also complained of discrimination from public transport as these have been wrongly perceived as children.
Speaking at the briefing Kawanguzi has also cited discrimination in churches where they are denied the opportunity o seat in major church services but instead they are sent to Sunday schools.
At the same briefing one Shamim narrated her child hood experience where she has been subjected to all haramenr including humiliation. Meanwhile state minister for disability Hellen Asamo has warned the public from using little people to extort money from the public which she has described as criminal.
She has has vowed to increase the support which is to be given dwarf community there by amending the laws.
According to the research which was conducted by UBOS Â recently indicated that 194,271 in Uganda belongs to the dwarf cominity. Under this 89,102 are males while 105,169 are females. Dwarfism has been characterized by short arms and legs in comparison to head and trunk.These are also subjected to weka mussles and having sleeping disorders causing disorders.The average height for men is 4 feet and four inches.
