In a significant step towards the 2026 General Elections, the Electoral Commission of Uganda, led by its Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, has taken delivery of the first batch of 60,000 Biometric Voter Verification Kits (BVVKs). The kits arrived in the country last night and were received at Entebbe International Airport. This new technology is slated for use in the upcoming polls to biometrically verify every voter before they are allowed to cast their ballot. The Commission has hailed this milestone as a clear demonstration of its commitment to enhancing the transparency and integrity of the entire electoral process.
