A standoff has erupted in Mukono Municipality, where wealthy landowners are refusing to voluntarily surrender parts of their plots for road construction. This refusal is part of the Mukono facelift project under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area development plan.

This defiance has pitted the landowners against other residents who are also protesting the methods used by the construction company working on roads in the municipality. The residents are particularly opposed to the construction of the Nabutti road, arguing that the way it is being built will block access routes in some areas.

President Museveni approved a privately funded project to reconstruct Kampala’s Nakivubo drainage channel, despite opposition from city authorities.

 The project aims to address chronic flooding and sanitation issues.

However, in a letter from State House, President Museveni has set the record straight. The President confirmed that he received a direct request from Mr. Kiggundu, seeking permission to work on the channel. 

Uganda Airlines operates six aircraft:  4 CRJ900 Bombardier regional jets, 2 Airbus A330-800neo wide-body aircraft.  

Members of Parliament have pressed Uganda Airlines management to expedite the acquisition of eight additional aircraft to strengthen the national carrier's operational capacity. The call came during a meeting with the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises (COSASE), where airline officials revealed that while Cabinet had approved the purchase, implementation delays persist.

The announcement came as Uganda finalizes preparations for the Madrid International Food Exhibition in Spain, scheduled from September 30 to October 2.
